The decision to choose a label for occasional users is quite simple. For the right decision, however, it is necessary to define the purpose of the labels and the material that will suit our needs. Different materials are available. Paper can be coated, uncoated, metallized, structured,…, and you can also opt for artificial materials such as pp, polyethylene, polyester… It is necessary to choose the quality of the adhesive depending on the substrate, as well as the method of storage of the product. Bottle labels usually come without glue, so the gluing machine applies it directly to the advertising water bottle just before applying the label.

Transparent or white PP and paper are used to print the bottle label. PP is suitable for larger orders – the minimum order for PP labels is 5000 pieces, because the cost of prepress is much higher than the price for printing on paper. That is why the price of PP labels is higher compared to paper labels, although with larger quantities the price per piece drops significantly.

You could easily make labels  on any paper, but they would soon fall apart or deform if, for example, you put the bottle in the refrigerator. That’s why it’s important what kind of paper is uses to print labels.  For printing on paper, it is possible to use two techniques: offset and digital printing. The first is applied for printing larger quantities or when the design of the labels does not change (the client continuously orders promotional water with the same labels). For smaller projects up to several thousand pieces, digital printing is used. Its advantage is the possibility of quick reaction, which is crucial for marketing activities in which reaction and speed are decisive factors, but it often happens that important information included in the design is waited until the last moment.

The label on each product must represent the content. With it, we want to convince the consumer that our product is the best. Advertising water should be attractive and attract the consumer, and instill confidence in our product. As far as promotional drinks are concerned, the bottle label does not push the contents of the bottle to the forefront, as this is not overly important in this case. Our message and our brand should be in the foreground. Custom branded water bottle labels do not need to be conspicuous and widely visible; it must represent our brand, our orientation towards people and nature. Advertising water loses its meaning if we do not pay enough attention to the visual effect of the label.

For a better effect of visual communication with consumers, it is advisable to work with a graphic designer.

Custom branded water bottle labes that boast a beautiful design and carry your message and your logo, have a small part of you in them. If you pay close attention to the design, your message will find its way to recognition faster. If you express your originality, there is a greater chance that the client will preserve the plastic bottle, refill it and carry a part of your identity with them.

If you are skilled in designing, you can easily make a label design yourself. With less skilled people, there are often difficulties in choosing the color profile, bleed, crop marks, size. Here are some basic tips for occasional users of design programs:

  • The correct color profile for printing bottle labels is CMYK, in some cases an additional white background.
  • Offset from the edge: place important texts at least 2 mm from the edge of the final design format, and at least 7 mm on the right edge to overlap the label.
  •  2mm bleed is mandatory. Background (fill colour or image) must be place 2 mm over the edge of lable.
  • Resolution: at least 300 dpi
  • File formats: PDF / X4: 2010, PDF / X-1a: 2001, JPG
  • Texts: embedded or changed into vectors
  • Color palette: CMYK or gray.

The size will be easily adjusted by printing experts themselves if the design is of appropriate proportions. If the label is not proportional, vertical or horizontal deformation of the print may occur when adjusting the size.
